Mayor’s Report – Mayor: Andy   Letham (#5 from Agenda)

  • 8 Councillors were   re-elected; a number of new members with business acumen
  • Amalgamation occurred 14   years ago
  • Core Services Review

Action: Send any revenue generating or   saving ideas to Andy directly, or through Steve

  • The reality is the CKL (City of Kawartha Lakes) is spending more than it is bringing in
  • FACT: we must do things   differently if we want to live and play in a financially healthy city that   doesn’t pound away at the tax base as the only source of revenue
  • Rather than wait need do   something differently – challenge will be to determine what business the CKL   is and is not in. As a result need to review services to find ways to   streamline
  • There are 10 Town Hall   Meetings (See website) – 8 pages are dedicated to topics related to how
  • If you are excited and what   to be involved in go to Cleaner Leaner   Municipality
  • If nothing changes - all   services are running at a $10M deficit – any reserves have been used in the   past – CKL has 3,000 square miles of roads
  • Tax Bills to go out soon
